Child & Youth Sports and Fitness (CYSF)
Here at Fort Detrick, Child & Youth Sports and Fitness (CYSF) aims to encourage participation in physical activity, establish teamwork and participation, and build strong qualities and characteristics for the future generation. We offer developmentally appropriate opportunities for children and youth 3-18 years to be engaged in individual and team sports, competitions, skill building clinics, and nutrition and health classes that foster development of life-long healthy habits. They are provided by trained CYS employees and volunteer coaches in a variety of settings, including Youth Centers, MWR Facilities, schools, community fields and facilities. Sports offered across all four seasons range from Basketball, Cheer, Cross Country, Dance, Flag Football and Soccer. Along with Basketball, Cheer, Dance, Fishing, and Volleyball camps in the summertime. Our goal is to create a fun environment encompassing sport and outdoor activities and create a positive feeling across the base and the Frederick community.

Youth Services (YS)
The Youth Center provides activities for youth typically in grades 6-12*. Through formal partnerships with nationally-recognized youth-serving organizations such as 4-H and Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) youth have access to programs, standardized curricula, special events, camps, scholarships, and more. Computer labs and homework assistance are available at every Youth Center.
There are two components to the Youth Program:
- The Middle School Program is generally for youth in grades 6-8*
- The Teen Program is generally for youth in grades 9-12
The Youth Program is open after school, school closures and summer. Specialty camps and trips are held throughout the year.
